Helping a youth-oriented technology program build an executive team that mirrors the communities of color it serves.

MyPath is a technology-oriented nonprofit that creates economic pathways for youth, many of whom come from low-income communities and communities of color.

An Aspen Institute Nonprofit Leader in Financial Technology (nLIFT), the MyPath platform helps city agencies and national workforce development nonprofits augment their youth employment programs by giving youth the tools and the knowledge to set up bank accounts, save money, and build credit, using this teachable moment to set the foundation for upward mobility.

The fast-growing organization was poised to scale from 13 sites to dozens, and hired Roccam to bring leadership and new skillsets to an executive team supporting the visionary CEO, including leaders in marketing (Director of Communications), programs (Managing Director of Programs), and technology (CTO).

The organization's first round of recruiting attracted highly qualified candidates, but not nearly enough diversity to reflect the young people MyPath serves. By widening the search, Roccam introduced the staff to many more BIPOC candidates who had a true diversity of backgrounds and experiences. Not only did the staff find the interview process meaningful, MyPath was able to form a management team that is passionate about the organization's mission, strengthens the leadership team, and supports the vision of CEO and the youth that they serve.

“Roccam is collaborative but also shares data driven market based insights for our leadership and management searches. They listen, engage candidates and guide our process, ultimately delivering great options and a team that has impacted our outcomes.”
