Helping to scale an organization tackling the housing, homeless and mental health crisis in Oakland.

“The decision to work with Roccam was one of the best decisions we’ve made. We no longer have a recruiting problem.”

Bay Area Community Services creates a comprehensive safety net for the community by providing mental health, housing, aging, and youth services.

Based in Oakland, California, BACS establishes a continuum of care for people with mental health issues, works in numerous ways to prevent homelessness, and provides interventions that get people off the streets and back into safe, supportive housing.

Facing ambitious growth in programs, that were stretching management and HR resources to the limit, the organization contracted with Roccam in late 2018 to recruit staff at all levels, from residential peer counselors, housing case managers, psychiatric staff for crisis stabilization, and program managers across mental health and housing.

Targeted online advertising brought in a steady pipeline of dozens to hundreds of applications for each position, and Roccam's recruiting specialists streamlined the interviewing process to reduce the time managers spent conducting interviews. The results: close to 200 new hires in 2019 alone.

We continue to help BACS manage natural turnover by replacing departing employees and filling new positions.
